Mother/Daughter Triathletes!
Originally uploaded by The Hudsons
WE DID IT!!!! My mom, several great friends and I completed our first triathlon! It was a sprint triathlon, which was great for a first one. It has shorter distances than a full blown triathlon. The swim was 250 yards, the bike was almost 8 miles and the run was 2 miles. I completed it in 1 hour and 5 minutes and mom did it in 1 hour and 26 minutes. We were very happy with our accomplishment! I will definitely do it again and may do a longer one as a relay with some friends. I'd do the swim part and let them do the biking and running, as swimming is definitely my strength of the 3 sports. Check out our flickr photos with the link to the right. Joe did a great job of taking pictures. He also was a champion with the kids. Since the race was almost an hour away from home, I spent the night with a friend who lives much closer. Joe had to feed the baby through the night and then get everyone up and to the race by about 7am so I could feed her once more before the race. He was all over the race course taking pictures and cheering me on with the kids. We had a lot of fun. Then Mom threw an "I TRI-ed it!" party afterwards and people who have been so supportive came over to celebrate with us. It was a great day! Jonah wanted to know if I won. When I told him no, he wondered if I lost. When I said, "No, I didn't lose." He very excitedly exclaimed, "It was a tie?!!!!" How cute is that?
